DBN Lighting

DBN was originally owned and run by its founder, the Rochdale based lighting designer, Geoff Buckley. Throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s DBN specialised primarily in lighting for rock & roll and nightclubs. They were early investors in intelligent lights and, as Manchester’s most innovative lighting company, lit most of the famous bands and clubs from the ‘Madchester’ period at one time or another.

The current management, who had worked for and with DBN for many of the preceding years, purchased and took over the running of the company on April Fools’ Day 1998.The same core team of people continue to run the company to this day. Since then they have continued to expand and, as the business has developed, the focus of the company has shifted towards the corporate sector, where they have built close working relationships with some of the industry’s finest production companies.

We were introduced to DBN lighting through some of our friends from the Hacienda; several of the directors who joined DBN in 1998 were previous employees of the Hacienda which closed down in 1997. Every time they have moved or increased in size we have redeveloped their new distribution and warehousing establishments. Including complete new mezzanine flooring breaking through between two new units complete with new roller shutter and air conditioning. Other M&E services included a full rewire to both units which was to client specialist specification. We also had to design and build their offices with toilets, electrical repair workshops and a testing and distribution area. We also made the building more accessible to the public by building ramps to allow for disabled access.
